I made a rule for myself: I would not include anything that human beings had not already done in some other place or time, or for which the technology did not already exist. I did not wish to be accused of dark, twisted inventions, or of misrepresenting the human potential for deplorable behaviour.
All of which add to the realistic horror of the book.

As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters. I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.

(I will never understand how the republicans can claim to be the party of “small government” when they want to intrude into people’s lives on a family, and worse, bodily level.-S)

101-year-old woman evicted from home, government won’t let her return
Who says you can’t go home? In the case of 101-year-old Detroit resident Texana Hollis, the federal government. The woman, who lived in her home for 60 years, was evicted from her home in September by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development after she was unable to pay property taxes on her reverse mortgage. A couple days later, she was told she could return home, but HUD later said her home was in such disrepair that they wouldn’t allow it. But all is not lost; other agencies might be able to help fix the home up. Hollis, meanwhile, is staying with a friend who offered her a free room. Where’s Ty Pennington when you need him? It’s treating a woman politely
As long as she isn’t a fright:
It’s guarding the girls who act rightly,
If you can be judge of what’s right;
It’s being—not just, but so pleasant;
It’s tipping while wages are low;
It’s making a beautiful present,
And failing to pay what you owe.
Here she is! (Taken with instagram)
